About

How it all started

Baytree Carpentry was formed by Matthew Ferrington in 2014.

Matt has been working in the carpentry business for over 18 years now. Fully qualified after 3 years of college and onsite learning, achieving an NVQ level 3 and ACA qualification. Matt has been self employed since 2012 and has carried out numerous domestic and commercial jobs, working with various contractors, domestic clients and developing a highly varied portfolio and knowledge base.

Matt and colleague Rich are now specialising in a bespoke service making and installing fitted furniture, such as alcove units, bootrooms, bookcases, fitted wardrobes and many more.

With a small efficient workshop, they are able to carry out most of the work off site and keep disruption and dust down to a minimum in your home. Also using precision tools and machinery in a comfortable environment achieving higher quality work. They also have a spray shop where they can fully spray finish jobs to a professional finish before bringing the work to install in your home.

Through the years Baytree Carpentry have built a large number of returning loyal customers and contractors. They pride themselves in providing a high quality service and achieving constant customer satisfaction at competitive prices.

We hold all relevant insurances and health and safety qualifications.

How we deal with your enquiry

From the first point of contact through to completion of a project,  it is most likely that you will be dealing directly with Matt.

After an initial discussion of what you are after via email or telephone, and some approx measurements,  it is likely Matt will then provide you with an estimate. Should this be of interest then Matt would arrange a day and time to come and visit you to see the space, finalise design ideas and measure up.

After that, depending on the type of job, drawings and sketches may be sent over and samples can often be supplied, along with a fixed written quote.

A 10% deposit is usually required to secure the job and an approximate date for fitting.

If a large job then there would usually be a second payment on account required towards materials and the pre build work going on in the workshop.

There are various ways fitted furniture can be made, and different budgets can be worked to depending on the clients choices.

Please don't feel you can't get in touch should the quote be over your budget, there may be an alternative method of carrying out the work or materials that are more cost friendly to suit your budget.

We offer free no obligation estimates and appreciate to hear back from you even if you decide you don't want to go ahead with the work.

Build processes
build process of a shaker door

We are now fortunate to be able to carry out most  of our work from a  workshop Matt and Rich have built up over the last couple of years.

It has enabled us to step up our quality of work and  make more detailed and intricate products in a comfortable work environment using quality machinery and work processes. With a good dust extraction system and work space it also means a lot of the work can be pre cut, sanded, routed, primed or fully spray finished before being assembled in your home. There will still be some disruption and dust on most projects during fitting, but this has been reduced dramatically with the use of our workshop. We also use quality dust extraction during fitting in your home.

We use joinery grade Finsa moisture resistant MDF as standard on MDF jobs, real wood veneer boards, Finsa  MFC boards, tulipwood, oak, and other hardwoods, all sourced from reputable suppliers.

Our standard shaker doors are made from 22mm MR MDF stiles, grooved for panels and jointed with Festools domino jointing system. Then glued and clamped together and hung on soft close Blum bluemotion hinges as standard.

We also make doors from Tulipwood, oak or other hardwoods and fit them on traditonal hinges if preferred.
